1.What is the specific topic your group decided to focus on? Our group's specific topic is "Poverty in Uganda."
2.Which organization did you choose to focus on and why
We chose to focus on "Children of Uganda" because they focused on a similar topic as we did and they support the "sponsor a child" system which we feel like we could help.
3. What exactly are they doing to try and combat or change your issue? Children of Uganda is trying to help reduce poverty in Uganda by providing education, food and clean water to children through the sponsor a child system. They chose to provide them with education so that the children would have the chance of getting a better life in the future and change things around for their family to get them out of poverty. Apart from this, they are also raising awareness to the world about this issue so that more would be aware and hopefully help them by donating money.
4. What are some of the things you like about their program? We like the fact that Children of Uganda focuses on a narrow topic which seemed to be more achievable than what many others are doing. We also like that they tried to combat poverty by not just giving those children money but providing them with basic education so that they would be able to survive on their own in the future. By sponsoring a child, they would also keep you in contact with the children and send progress reports to the sponsor which is very different from other organisations because we actually get to interact with these kids instead of just providing them with money. 5. How do you plan to become involved with this organization or model your action plan after it?
We would like to sponsor children through their organisation and keep track of his or her progress. We would also want to go door to door to ask for more sponsors while at the same time raise awareness to the people in Shanghai.
